The Asociación Española de Finanzas (AEFIN) along with The Fundación Centro Internacional de Formación Financiera (CIFF), the Universidad de Alcalá, and Grupo Santander, have edited the Revista de Economía Financiera (REF) since 2003.

RFE has aimed to establish itself as a leading academic and scientific publication in financial economics and is included in the following databases: JEL, e-JEL, Econlit, Catálogo Latindex and CINDOC. REF aims to publish theoretical and empirical financial economics papers that contribute significantly to knowledge of the capital markets and of corporate finance.

REF has started out on a new stage in 2011. This new stage will benefit from the work done by the journal over the last 8 years. Changes will also be introduced with the aim of increasing the journal’s impact and readership and making it a national and international landmark in financial economics research. The changes in 2011 are the following:

1. The whole journal will be in the English language and will be entitled The Spanish Review of Financial Economics (SRFE). Two issues will be published every year – in June and December. The numbering and history of the Revista de Economía Financiera will be continued in the SRFE.
   
   
2. The SFRE will be published by Elsevier, the largest and most important supplier of scientific information in both traditional media and in new media linked to new technologies. Elsevier will ensure the journal reaches a larger number of readers and will be included in platforms such as ScienceDirect and in data bases such as Scopus.
